From 4 July 1912. (4 pages)
With a band to begin playing in the morning, several baseball teams, two heads of cattle, and ten head of sheep to be barbecued, the citizens of Hazard were celebrating the 4th of July with a picnic at the property of Bertha Lyttle. A great crowd was expected from various parts of the county and adjoining counties. Special officers were appointed for the day to ensure no rowdyism or outbreaks would mar the occasion.
