From 17 September 1940. (4 pages) The murder trial of Isaac Perkins for the death of John Gayheart at Duane was underway. Without saying a word, Clyde Reynolds of Christopher shot his stepmother, Mrs. Bill Reynolds, twice: once in the chest and the leg. Clyde disagreed with her marriage to his father.  A warrant was issued for the arrest of preacher W.R. Burns of Vicco for handling snakes at church. 8-year-old Hargis Ritchie of Second Creek was missing.  He hadn't been seen since leaving home for school on Monday morning. In Leslie County, Miss Marie Morgan, daughter of Johnny J. Morgan, was found unconscious on the side of the road near Hyden after jumping from a moving automobile. Joe Fisher was under arrest with related charges. Also at Hyden, Mrs. Dewey Parks was taken to the Frontier Nursing Service for injuries sustained when a car driven by her son William rolled over the hill at Pounding Mill Branch near Wooton. Nazi Adolf Hitler was doing the evil things that psychotic criminal dictators do.
